Jennifer Garner, born April 17th, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was raised within Charleston West Virginia. Her dad, William John Garner, was a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann, her mother taught at a nearby college. She received her degree with a chemical engineering degree to follow her father. So that she could achieve her dream of becoming an actress, she moved into New York. In addition to appearing in Broadway plays, she also worked as a server at an adjacent restaurant. In the TV series "Felicity," she had a small cameo. (It is on this show where she got to know her husband Scott Foley. Garner was given her break with the action-thriller "Alias." She had her first lead role was in the acclaimed romantic comedy "13 Going thirty." Garner played a teenage girl trapped in a 30 year old body. Garner chose Gary Winick as the director of her film. They continued searching for projects until Winick's death in 2011. Garner received the title of an artist ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. The program focuses on the importance of nutrition, literacy and early education. Garner was named as a director on the board of this non-profit organization in 2014. Garner advocates for early child development. As a member of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) Ambassador team for the EASS program Garner has visited families on a regular basis to coach them on ways to motivate their children to succeed.
