Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born 12 November 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 at the Olympic contest. Comaneci was spotted by Bela Karolyi, later to be the Romanian gymnastics coach when she was just six years old. The first time she competed was at The National Junior Championships in which she was 13th place in the year 1969. In 1970, Comaneci was crowned champion. At her first international competition in 1972, she took the top spot with three gold medals. In her debut as a Senior in 1975, she beat Russian Lyudmila Turkishcheva. She was the five-time European champion who won four gold medals and one silver. She became the first female to perform a reverse double salo on the uneven parallel bar when she won the American Cup, New York City 1976.
